  1. I love this record, not because Carolyn is a "great" singer, quite the contrary. Her singing sounds a bit thin to me. But she has enough emotion/conviction to actually pull it off. She pulls it together at about the 5:15 mark. The song is close to 6 minutes long... kinda unheard of for a single, especially in the early 70s. Always felt this 45 is right on the edge. Just stopping short of being terrible, she succeeds in making a great soul side with a lot of emotion... My opinion of course, but that's why I like it. Also interesting to note, this was towards the end of Stax Records now historical run as a soul label. In two years time they would file for bankruptcy.
